The British Acupuncture Council website, Factsheet on Obstetrics, concludes that acupuncture is safe in pregnancy and from the research evidence to date may:
- Help back pain during pregnancy,
- Reduce the pain of labour
- Encourage the start of labour
- Reduce anxiety
- Reduce symptoms of nausea, vomiting and heartburn
- Turn a breech presentation
